How the quality of work is affected by using unskilled labor

Education and proper training is essential for management as well as for labour. If labour is well trained in performing all their duties according to the industry standards then they can contribute to the success of the company. If the labour is unskilled, they do not understand how to perform their jobs and unable to meet the company’s goals and leads to low productivity. The unskilled and less efficient labour could lead to errors in their work, take extra time in performing it and also are more susceptible to injuries. Supervisors need to ensure that all labor working in their workplace are trained and have enough knowledge about their work and equipment.

British Columbia Labor Market

BritishColumbia has bright economic prospects, including growth as a global trade hub and development of new knowledge base industries but their rising concern is that province does not have enough people with the right education and skills to support their country's economy. Ensuring the high quality of labour with necessary qualification and skills have become their major interest. With the Post-secondary education, training and high school initiatives program British Columbia has achieved many desired results like improving the economy by growth in different sectors, employment level, productivity, investment and trade etc.

Construction of the sector is labour intensive and has the capability to hire a large number of skilled and unskilled labour. The construction sector is booming across British Columbia. Meanwhile, the skilled labour shortage is a prevailing issue. Skilled construction workers are less interested to work in this industry because they thought that the jobs in this sector are dangerous, unsafe, difficult and wages are low. Due to the shortage of manpower in this sector, industry depends moreover on unskilled labour which causes negative effects like labour injuries, poor performance and quality, less business and revenue. To recover the shortage of skilled workers in British Columbia, they have developed some training programs as well as by increasing projects they are making policies like increase in wages rate and providing safety and other incentives to their labour.
